Domain Name Services essays
Domain Name Services essays We can all remember numbers, right? Sure, our telephone numbers, street addresses, and zip codes we can all remember. So why cant we remember IP addresses? I can remember some but, the public as a whole cant. Thats why we have domain name services and the InterNIC company. The parent to the InterNIC company is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). It is a non-profit, private sector corporation dedicated to preserving the operational stability of the Internet and promoting competition. It used to be only one company that sold and managed top level domain names called Network Solutions. Today, there are over two hundred different companies that are accredited by ICANN to sell domains. In October of 1998, the United States Department of Commerce and Network Solutions, Inc. modified their agreement, under which Network Solutions had been the only registrar and registry administrator for the .com, .net, and .org top-level domains. This modification to their agreement required the establishment of a Shared Registration System. This system would allow an unlimited number of registrars to compete for domain name registration business. They would all still utilize one shared registry, which Network Solutions would continue to act as the sole administrator. In November of 1998, the Department of Commerce identified ICANN as the body that would oversee the transition to competition under the Shared Registration System. Part of ICANN's responsibilities included establishing and implementing a policy and procedure for registrar accreditation that would ensure a shift to a competitive domain name registration system providing continued Internet stability and domain-name durability. On March 4, 1999, the ICANN Board of Directors adopted a Statement of Registrar Accreditation Policy, which was developed from the publicly posted Draft Guidelines for Registrar Accr ...

Art schools in Finland. A variety of choice
Art schools in Finland. A variety of choice Art and design schools in Finland We all know that Scandinavian teaching differs from what we are used to in America and the rest of Europe, so learning about the biggest schools in the area will help you decide where to apply. Here are some of the best places you can enroll to, if you are fond of art disciplines: Theatre Academy Helsinki. This is an establishment, that is not so old, yet its popularity is distinctly noticeable among young people, who want to pursue the path of fine arts. The academy is international, always welcoming students from abroad as if they were born and raised under the cold sun of Oslo, and features some of the greatest theatre courses that are available throughout the country. If you are wondering on how to apply, you can visit the academyââ¬â¢s website, and find a program in the English language. There are also courses, lectured in Finnish and Swedish, and you can choose the level of complexity that fits you most. Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. This university is famous for the variety of programs, which are provided to students annually. One of the most well-known courses, allowing students to broaden their knowledge on art and design, is the Artist-in Residence program, facilitating to enroll students from abroad and encouraging young designers to participate in the exchange studies, organized by the Finnish student community. It is undoubtedly an awesome opportunity for anyone, who is remotely interested in arts, as it helps the promising designers to build their careers from the university benches. Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. Each year, students are invited to choose an individual program, which allows them to learn about their heartââ¬â¢s desire. This is called an introductory program, and it includes general lectures on history, photography and the works of art. Another benefit to the study plan Finnish academy provides is the ability to pick an individual study plan. You can take advantage of the free hours by applying to a side job or having art practice in the local gallery or a museum. Finnish Academy of Fine Arts recently became a part of the Scandinavian project, intended to spread knowledge about higher education in Finland. Sibelius Academy. Sibelius Academy is the one to provide the best musical education in Finland. It also encourages young people from all over the world to come to Finland and try themselves as aspiring arts students. The national tradition of music is highly respected and well maintained within the walls of this educational establishment, and you can learn a lot about Scandinavian tunes as well. The Academyââ¬â¢s aim is to promote international relations on the highest level and attract students from Europe. They also organize junior classes, which are established to prepare teenagers for their future careers in music departments, whether they are planning to enter Sibelius Academy or not. This is an excellent opportunity to test your strength and sort of skim the surface before you immerse in the world of art. Nordic Art School. This is, perhaps, one of the most innovative and contemporary establishments in Finland, located on the west coast of the country. The study plan is unique: it offers a chance to visit two-week long workshops, attended by famous artists and learn from the best in the good sense of a word. Nordic Art School has a two-year program, with the third year being dedicated to the advanced studies of the chosen discipline, and is never short on students, who want to try themselves in different spheres of knowledge with a touch of creativity and futuristic approach.

Responding to Terrorism Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Responding to Terrorism - Essay Example The threat of terrorism is unending, and will most likely increase as time goes by. However, the response to terrorism should not be focuses on the military way, instead, the government should try to uncover the root causes of terrorism and work with other countries using intelligence to avert terrorist acts before they occur. Introduction One of the biggest issues in British politics is centered on terrorism and the resources expended for it. Some individuals in politics are of the opinion that terrorism should not be given as much attention as is currently done since it does not cause as much destruction as other catastrophes. Other politicians state that the best way to curb terrorism is by destruction of the terrorists using force of war. Terrorist acts all round the world continue to appear in headlines continuously, and some quarters seem to indicate that the attention given to global terrorism is not warranted. Statistically, global terrorism seems to pose a smaller threat tha n other catastrophes, for example, floods and famines. An investigation by an American economist, Krueger, indicated that the average chance of an individual succumbing to a terrorist attack in the United States or United Kingdom is less than 1 in 5 million (Krueger, 2007). However, the probability of individuals dying from other factors like natural disasters is of a higher magnitude. However, despite the statistic mentioned above, the threat of terrorism, or the actual occurrence of terrorism will dominate headlines more than any other event. Even if a terrorist attack does not claim any lives or damage property of substantial value, the media coverage and outcry from the public will still be overwhelming (Perl, 2007). Additionally, the governmentââ¬â¢s response to such an occurrence will most likely be higher that the response to any other event. Comparing the time and resources spent on the response to terrorism to the spent to on other global issues shows a big divergence (P erl, 2007). The government will spend more time, resources and personnel in trying to avert the threat of terrorism than any other global occurrence. Some quarters of the political quadrant might argue that the government is spending too much on an event that might or might not occur, but the following analysis shows that the resources and attention spent by the government, media and individuals in response to the terrorism threat is viable. The analysis will show that the terrorism response mechanisms currently in place are possibly due to the uncertainty of the attacks, but also due to the real threat that they pose to society. The Threat of Terrorism One of the first reasons why terrorism is taken seriously around the world is because of the uncertainty of possible attacks from terrorists (English, 2012). Many individuals will state that they are concerned for the country, but perhaps a more satisfying answer is that everybody is concerned for themselves. Increasing media coverag e has gone to show that terrorists strike randomly, thus increasing the chance that anyone could be a victim. This fact, coupled with the ruthlessness of the attacks, serves to greatly increase the attention given to terrorism. The main reason why the response to terrorism should be taken seriously is because of the underlying factors or reasons in every terrorist insurgence (English, 2007). Despite the fact that most

Project Management 8 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Project Management 8 - Essay Example Change process always aims at improving the operations of business organizations. Correction of spelling error in the name of products is very important because it ensures that customers do not get confused or doubtful when purchasing our products. Correct spelling creates an idea that the company pays attention to details in all aspects of making products. Quality of products must be assured through the correct and accurate packaging; packaging is very important because it is what the customer analyzes first when purchasing a product, therefore, all packaging characteristics including the spellings must be correct (Western Electric Company, 2007). The quality assurance department should be strengthened with adequate technical knowledge; this is because the department is tasked with ensuring flawless production processes; from raw material acquisition, product manufacturing, and finally packaging. The employees of Winsome must be encouraged to ensure production of superior products t hrough the spirit of teamwork; which ensures effective achievement of overall product objectives. The production process should be automated to ensure consistency in quality of products. The change process will have an immediate implication in the financial budget. This is because the change programs will utilize financial resources. Correcting the spelling errors on the packages will involve producing new and correct packages which is a costly affair. Setting up an effective quality assurance sector can involve the hiring of quality experts; hence the wage bill will increase (Shewhart, 2011). Effective human relation approaches ensures sound working relations among employees, and also teamwork. Employees should not threaten to report coworkers to superior; any mistake in the production process should be discussed (Feigenbaum, 2009). This is where teamwork comes in because employees work together in solving

Animal Experimentation Essay Example for Free
Animal Experimentation Essay After deep consideration and research about animal testing issues, this problem heated public opinions and took them to debates on media, news, etc. Animals were not experimented in order to find out potential treatments for patients, scientists also used them for testing cosmetic or explore their functions. Because opponents believe animal testing is cruel and ill-gotten and a lot of fight, protests, reasons against it, so everyone try to decrease the number of animals used in studies and finding alternatives. But proponents indicated the long list of medical advances made achievable with the help of animal research. They assumed that technological advances will never be able to reliably replicate all of the uses of laboratory mice and other creatures. First off lets get through a few basic facts. Animal testing costs over $136 billion dollars annually for the American public, so animal testing is actually very expensive. There are almost 400 known alternatives for animal testing being considered. Only 2% of human diseases are recorded inside of the animal kingdom. Everyone, whether they are for or against animal testing, are very biased about their ideas but I will also tell you about the valuable things that are generated from animal testing. Many things such as cleaners, pesticides, and herbicides are tested on animals to make sure they are safe as well. There are many different kinds of tests for different things. For example dogs are used for cardiovascular work. Now lets move on to all of the awful things coming from animal testing. I feel that animal testing is definitely giving us information but it is not worth it for all the pain the animals are experiencing. Some of the animals are not properly anesthetized. In fact, almost ten percent arent and 9 % of the ones who are die. I believe that these laboratories are not using the animals to the full extent anyway because all of the drugs that pass through animal testing either harm or kill humans 61% of the time. Is that the kind of results that should be coming out of this, especially since 33 animals die in a laboratory every second? Some scientists even will say that they believe that rats and mice dont matter because they dont live very long anyway, but I believe that they shouldnt take what little life they have away from them. We can not be completely sure if animal testing is very efficient either because 83% of tested products are found to e metabolized differently with humans and animals. Also a group of scientists tested on animals to see if they got lung cancer from smoking and they didnt, so is it safe to use them for our tests. It is also proven that cats are allergic to Advil. Animals also generate high levels of depression and stress from being contained inside of small cages. Did you know that 5 to 25 % of all drugs that come from animal tests that pass and then are later found to be bad are thrown away. Is it really fair for the animals if they have to give their lives and then we just throw away everything that comes out of it? A lot of scientists have come to the conclusion that animal testing is outdated anyway and they should consider more modern testing. They believe that we should be looking more into computer programs especially since you dont have to wait nearly as long for results and it is much cheaper. Animals must feel the same amount of pain we humans do; some might say otherwise because they dont understand that the animals may be more intelligent and emotional than it seems. Most scientists feel that they get better results and they can be more confident from the amount of data that arrives after a human based test. Even though scientists feel this way I still dont think that we should allow human tests either. It is also a proven fact that most scientists who do animal tests have very high levels of guilt and sorrow even though animal facilities work very hard to make sure the scientists dont become emotionally connected with the animals. Some people, including me, might even say that animals have become the slaves of our generation and we need to fix that. Just because they are inferior doesnt mean we should pick on them. In fact you dont see the smart people in America picking on the dumber or poorer people by subjecting them to tests. About 99% of all physicians have agreed that animal testing has played a great roll in medical advancements. About 97% of those physicians support animal testing. So if all of these very well educated people believe that we should keep it, should we really get rid of it? After all, animal testing does help us find out answers for our medically related questions without us having to harm humans but we shouldnt have to harm animals either especially since there are so many alternatives. But that is a big problem for some countries were they feel it is immoral or it has been made illegal to use a drug without it having been tested on an animal. In some countries they have to be tested on two different types of mammals. Most people who are against animal testing, including me, say that animals are not very much like us internally. The people for animal testing could argue that they mostly just test the living patterns that occur when taking a certain drug that is being tested instead of going deep into the body where it actually would make a difference. As proof, animal testing has given us cures for Polio, Herpes Simplex, Hepatitis B, Rabies, Malaria and Mumps. Dont get the impression that the humans are selfish and they only use they results for themselves, scientists also use the results for medical advancements on animals. Also, we probably wouldnt be able to get as much information without animal testing. I believe that this is true, and computer programs will not give as many results, but they display results more quickly. Therefore, given time, computer programs may be just as effective. They also argue that the scientists try as hard as they can to make their experiments the least painful as possible. Many large organizations including a British organization called RDS have filed tests to find out about the claims against animal testing and they have found some of them to be false. Though the information in the above paragraphs give a strong argument I still believe that it should be abolished. I have found animal testing to be cruel and wrong. I hope that you have too, because without the peoples permission animal testing will never be properly stopped. I hope that you will make the right decision so that we can take a step towards establishing a more peaceful America and getting rid of one dreadful thing at a time.

Special Effects Essay example -- essays research papers
Special Effects Special effects in motion pictures has evolved over the years into an involved science of illusion and visual magic. The following is a comprehensive perspective depicting the rapidly expanding realm of cinematography. In times of old, special effects in movies was limited to an individual's creativity and the constrictive limits of the tools available. However the results of early special effects masters astounded audiences in their age in the same manner that modern artists do today. The ability to create an effect that was brand new was, and still is, the key to the industry. Techniques range from the expected to the bizarre in order to achieve a certain image or illusion. Cinematographers in the early fifties would use a black cloth backdrop with white paint splattered off of toothpicks to simulate a space scene in the many science-fiction movies made in that era. There is also stories of a common plate being thrown across a "space" backdrop to emulate a flying saucer in mid-flight. Although the special effects persons of old were strapped with limits, one of these was not make-up. They relied heavily on this prop to portray the many monsters and aliens in their films. "Nosferatu" a German film about the vampire with the same name was a huge success even in America, where thousands marveled at the intricate detailing of the blood-sucker's razor-like teeth, bulging eyes and a pointed nose and ears. "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" used a somewhat new technique of a body suit that the actor wore along with a mask made of latex rubber and foam. Using cooking oil or butter spread on the body and mask gave an enhancement of sliminess added to the monster image. A fairly recent film using heavy make-up effects is "An American Werewolf in London" done by the master make-up artist Rick Baker who shows what can be done with a steady hand and a lot of patience. Another popular trick used was strings to manipulate miniature objects. Often used in the science fiction era to show spacecraft or other objects in flight was thin strings attached to miniatures. Audiences did notice the obvious strings but it did not matter at the time because it was state of the art. The next major breakthrough in the effects world was stop-motion animation. A process by which objects were... ...l effects has come. The computer age has touched the movie world and made a huge impact. Literally anything is possible with the assistance of computers. Using software and hardware costing in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, 3D mesh object renderings are leaving all other techniques in the past. CGI, which stands for Computer Generated Imaging, is the latest way to get exactly what movie companies want in their films. Flawless in appearance and challenging actual objects the viewer is often left flustered as to if what they are seeing is real or computer generated. Industry giants in this latest technique include Lucas' ILM as well as Pacific Data Images. Movies using mainly CGI include, "Independence Day", "Terminator 2" and, of course, "Jurassic Park". Special effects have played an essential role in the motion picture experience for over 70 years and with good reason. Whether it be a plate being thrown across the screen or a computer generated Star Destroyer, a clay ape on a cardboard Empire State Building or a T-Rex smacking his head on the side of your jeep, the art of movie illusion will only cease to grow when our minds do.

Convicted Felon
Convicted Felon Convicted Felon Convicted Felon By Maeve Maddox A person who commits a felony is called a felon. A felony is a serious crime; what constitutes a felony differs from state to state, but in every state, crimes fall into three categories: infractions, misdemeanors, and felonies. 1. Infraction An infraction is a petty offense punishable by small fines. An infraction cannot result in a jail sentence, so the person accused of one is not entitled to a jury trial. In some states, a traffic violation is an infraction; in others, a traffic ticket may be a civil offense. 2. Misdemeanor A misdemeanor is a criminal offense that can be punished by up to a year in jail. Instead of receiving a jail sentence, offenders who commit a misdemeanor may be punished by the payment of a fine, restitution, probation, and/or community service. Defendants charged with a misdemeanor are entitled to a jury trial. In some states, selling cigarettes to a minor is a misdemeanor. 3. Felony A felony is the most serious category. A felony involves serious physical harm or threat of harm, for example, assault with a deadly weapon, forcing a person to participate in prostitution, attacking a family member, attacking a stranger, etc. Felonies are further classified according to the perceived level of seriousness: Class A Felonies, Class B Felonies, etc. Felons are often referred to in the media as ââ¬Å"convicted felonsâ⬠: Baltimore Convicted Felon Exiled to Over 9 Years in Prison Convicted felon bails on job Angry sheriff questions how convicted felon escaped again Convicted felon shoots dogs at Gulfport residence The AP Stylebook defines felon as ââ¬Å"a person who has been convicted of a felony, regardless of whether the individual actually spends time in confinement or is given probation or a fine instead.â⬠Once a person has been convicted of a felony, the person is a felon. As the AP points out, referring to a felon as ââ¬Å"a convicted felonâ⬠is redundant. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? 10 Tips Every Freshman needs to Know for Back to School Season by EssaySupply.com
10 Tips Every Freshman needs to Know for Back to School Season 10 Tips To Know Before School Season As you get ready to begin your first year of college, there are probably dozens of things you have done to prepare yourself. Youââ¬â¢ve most likely shopped for dorm room furnishings, purchased a new laptop for studying and entertainment, taken a tour of the classroom, introduced yourself to your new dorm mate, and more. Hopefully, you are as prepared as you can be. However, if you arenââ¬â¢t feeling as confident about the start of the school year as you should be, donââ¬â¢t worry. We have compiled a list of ten tips for new college freshmen that you wonââ¬â¢t hear in any orientation. 1. Create an Open and Honest Relationship with Your Roommate Here is the deal. Unless something extreme happens, you and your roommate will be together for one semester at a minimum before your RA will even entertain the thought of making a move. Try getting together and setting up a few ground rules around issues such as visitors, cleaning, and food. Then, agree to approach each other honestly when there are issues and avoid being passive aggressive. 2. Grades Arenââ¬â¢t Everything Hereââ¬â¢s a shocking revelation. Many of your future employers will care less about your GPA. Theyââ¬â¢ll care that you graduated. Theyââ¬â¢ll care about research projects, whether or not youââ¬â¢ve been published, internships, work experience, and relevant activities. So, study hard, but take the time to be a well-rounded student. 3. Party Wisely Letââ¬â¢s be realistic. You will go to parties. Just be safe and use some common sense. Go to parties with friends and leave with friends. Make sure there is one person in the group that will not be drinking. Donââ¬â¢t binge drink or accept drinks from anybody you do not trust explicitly. Leave enough time in your schedule for sleep and studying. 4. Scope out Places Near Campus that Serve food all Night Every college student needs a go-to diner, cafà ©, or greasy spoon to hit late at night when they have the munchies. These are great places to go for a burger, a cup of coffee, or just a quiet late night study spot. 5. Say Hi to Your Professors If you have questions, a comment on a lecture, or a concern about an upcoming assignment stop by your instructorââ¬â¢s office. They will be more than happy to hear from you. If you have nothing to say, just pop your head in the door to say hello. 6. Itââ¬â¢s okay to Befriend Upper Classmen This isnââ¬â¢t high school where upper classmen would never lower themselves to hang with a ââ¬Ëfroshââ¬â¢. Friendships in college tend to be founded around common interests, not grade level or age. 7. There are more ways to get Help than you are told You have many options for getting help with school work on campus. This is great, but sometimes that help isnââ¬â¢t what you need. If you need real help with writing assignments, look into a service like where you can buy essay online that are custom written and quality-guaranteed. 8. Print Everything the Night Before The biggest mistake you can make is to finish your homework and then plan to print it out before class. It is almost guaranteed that you will run into problems. Leave yourself plenty of time to get things printed out. Also, donââ¬â¢t forget to upload your writing assignments to turnitin.com or your instructorââ¬â¢s web portal. 9. Find a Place to Study Outside of your Room Your dorm room has your roommate, visitors, and a ton of electronics. Then, thereââ¬â¢s also the temptation to sleep or clean. Find a nice quite spot on or off campus to do your studying. 10. Keep Healthy Snacks on Hand You wonââ¬â¢t always have time to get a proper meal. Carry healthy snacks to munch on during the day, and you wonââ¬â¢t be tempted to pig out at night.

The Great Depression Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
The Great Depression - Essay Example September 20th saw the crash of the London Stock Exchange after the arrest of a number of key players in that market. At this time the marketââ¬â¢s foundation was shaky, prices were increasing and reducing frequently many people were unable to stay in the market. The market lost about 12% of its value at its opening on October 24th this was called Black Thursday. On October 28, more investors left the stock market and the market slide deepened even further. On 29th called ââ¬Å"Black Tuesdayâ⬠, the stock market traded around 15 million; the Dow had lost a sum of 68 points in the two days. Later that day a large number of stocks traded the same day made that market to lose more than $20 billion in the stock exchange. When the stock market fell, people panicked selling their stocks at lower than normal prices to anyone willing to buy. The market fall was the same for almost all countries except Japan. The U.S economy was greatly affected since most of the investors had placed their earnings in the stock market. Businesses were unable to acquire capital for new enterprises. Banks and industries became bankrupt. This led to the closure of businesses and banks, reduced money circulation, firing of employees and less production. With less income, the level of consumption of the average consumer declined. As a result of all these effects, there was massive unemployment. People had neglected agriculture and moved to the cities, this is what contributed to the effects of the market crash. There were not enough agricultural products to be sold.

Animal Experimentation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Animal Experimentation - Essay Example Others say that animal testing has been proved worthwhile and therefore should continue, but that new laws should be made in order to prevent cruelty to laboratory animals. This debate about the pros and cons of animal testing is one that elicits strong feelings often resulting in violence, threats, and hunger strikes. I personally believe that animal testing is wrong and that alternate ways should be devised for experimentation. (Mattingly, 1990) No doubt animals have played a vital role in almost all advancements in medicine. Treatments for heart diseases are one example, including open-heart surgery. Perfection of kidney dialysis also occurred through animal experimentation. Recently, animals are being used to determine treatments for major diseases like Alzheimer's disease and AIDS; and if a cure were found, it would be a milestone in medical history. But there is a limit to everything, and there should be a limit to this. Several medical historians claim that clinical research, examination, and human autopsy were the main components in the chief discoveries of heart pathology, cancer, immunology, and psychology. We cannot say assuredly as to what really lead to treatments for the above-mentioned diseases. But we have proof that laboratory animals are treated in an extremely cruel way with having to undergo excruciating pain. It high time people consider them as living beings too. (Anderegg, 2006), (King, 2007) Regarding the credibility of animal testing, it has not always shown promise in every aspect, often leading to a series of unfortunate events. For example, in 1963, a relation had been formed between lung cancer and cigarette smoking, but every method to cause lung cancer in animals had failed. Due to the long span of fifty years spent on this research, the lung cancer-smoking theory lost its validity and health warnings on cigarette packs appeared much later than they should have been, causing a lot of deaths by lung cancer. Another example is the relation of asbestos with cancer, and yet another one is the relation of alcohol with cirrhosis. Many other advancements were prolonged due to misleading information from animal testing. An extremely important one is the vaccine for polio, which was developed wrongly in a monkey cell culture and then later corrected in human cell culture. (Anderegg, 2006) Furthermore, due to differences in animal and human models, experts only tested parts that resembled those of humans without paying any heed to the overall anatomical, physiological and pathological variations. Because diseases usually have body-wide effects, these tests did not always appear to be reliable. (Anderegg, 2006) In addition, animal experimentation has uncovered a large range of lethal nonhuman viruses, which have caused several deaths in the laboratory along with a few outbreaks. Moreover, gene therapy in animals to produce human proteins, and their transfer into humans exposes them to dangerous pathogens. (Anderegg, 2006) Taking an ethical view of this subject, I consider animal testing immoral, cruel, and unnecessary. Animals are no lesser creatures when it comes to emotions, especially suffering pain. Hence, even the idea of subjecting helpless animals to extreme pain and unnecessary death is inappropriate. (King, 2007). The reason that
